- Meet the Scientists event, 7/28, 11 am, Valdez Convention Center. Open house, noon, Valdez Harbor. Meet the scientists, see the instruments used for the experiment. Meet the kids from Cordova demonstrating how their handmade ROVs (remotely operated vehicles) can “clean up an oil spill,” view a demonstration of new technology that allows for balloon surveillance of potential spills at night.
